Configure Bandwidth Limits for Multitenant WAN Interfaces in Concerto
For supported software information, click here.
Multiple subtenants belonging to a provider tenant can share the same WAN interface. For each subtenant, you can assign bandwidth limits. If you do not specify bandwidth limits, the system allocates an amount of the available bandwidth to each subtenant.
For Releases 11.2.2 and later, you can configure a single bandwidth limit per subtenant. For Releases 12.1.1 and later, you can configure the shaping rate for uplink (outgoing) traffic, and you can specify the maximum amount of bandwidth allocated for downlink (incoming) traffic for a tenant. If you upgrade to Release 12.1.1, the previously configured bandwidth limit for a subtenant is used for both the uplink shaping rate and the downlink bandwidth limit. After the upgrade, you can modify these parameters.
Note that if you configure bandwidth limits for subtenants, you must configure the QoS traffic-shaping rate on the QoS tab. You cannot allocate bandwidth to a subtenant that is greater than the configured QoS traffic-shaping rate. For more information, see Configure QoS Interface Schedulers.
Configure Multitenancy on a WAN Interface
- In Tenant view, go to Configure > Profile Elements > Policy Elements > Device > Interface.
- In the Interface screen, click + Interface.
- In the Edit Interface screen, select the General tab, and then enter the required information. Specify the type as Physical and the category as WAN or Redundant WAN.
- Select the Tenants tab. Note that if the selected tenant has no subtenants, the Tenants tab does not display.
- To have all the subtenants use the WAN interface, click All Tenants.
- To specify which tenants can use the WAN interface, click Specify Tenants and Bandwidth Limits, and then click the tenants. If you select two or more subtenants, you must also select the provider tenant (the appliance-owner tenant).
- By default, the system automatically allocates bandwidth to the subtenants. To control the amount of bandwidth allocated to each subtenant, click the Specify Bandwidth Limits slider, and then enter either the uplink shaping rate, the maximum amount of downlink bandwidth (for Releases 12.1.1 and later), or both, in kilobits per second (kbps), for each selected subtenant. If you select a provider tenant because you have selected more than one subtenant, you cannot specify a bandwidth limit for the provider tenant.
If you configure bandwidth limits for subtenants, you must configure the QoS traffic-shaping rate on the QoS tab. You cannot allocate bandwidth to a subtenant that is greater than the configured QoS traffic-shaping rate for the interface. For more information see Configure QoS Interface Schedulers.
- To share any excess bandwidth among the subtenants, click the Share Excess Bandwidth slider.
- Click OK.
Monitor WAN Interfaces
- Go to View > SD-WAN > Overview.
The following screen displays.
- Select an appliance from the drop-down list. The following screen displays.
- Select Interfaces > Physical and Logical Interfaces, and then select a WAN interface, such as WAN vni-0/0-0, as shown in the screenshot above. The screen displays the speeds and thresholds and the bandwidth measurement data for the WAN interface.
Supported Software Information
Releases 11.2.2 and later support all content described in this article, except:
- Release 12.1.1 supports configuring the shaping rate for uplink traffic and the maximum amount of bandwidth allocated for downlink traffic for a tenant.
