Configure SD-WAN Sites

Typically, sites are locations or offices of a provider and its customers. You define the sites for a Controller node and WAN interfaces that are used for that organization. You configure sites for the following:

  • System
  • Provider tenant
  • Customer tenants

Configure a Systemwide Site

  1. In Director view:
    1. Select the Configuration tab in the top menu bar.
    2. Select Devices > Devices in the horizontal menu bar.
    3. Select an organization in left navigation bar.
    4. Select a Controller node in the main pane. The view changes to Appliance view.
  2. Select the Configuration tab in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Services > SD-WAN > System > Site Config in the left menu bar.
  4. Click the edit-icon.png Edit icon, and in the Edit Site Config popup window, enter information for the following fields.

    Field Description
    Site Type (Required)

    Select Controller or Hub Controller as the type of site.

    Site ID (Required) Enter the site identifier.
    Chassis ID (Required) Enter the chassis identifier.
    Provider Organization (Required) Select a provider organization.
    Paired Site Location ID (For Releases 20.2 and later.) Enter the location ID.
    Location ID (For releases prior to Release 20.2.) Enter the location identifier for a paired CPE device. For more information, see Configure Paired CPE Devices and Location IDs.
  5. Select the WAN Interfaces tab, and click the add-icon.png Add icon. In the Add WAN Interfaces popup window, enter information for the following fields.

    Field Description
    Interface Select the WAN interface.
    Description Enter a text description for the WAN interface.
    Transport Domain Click the add-icon.png Add icon and select a transport domain.
    Type

    Select the WAN interface type:

    • Broadband
    • IP
    • MPLS
    Media

    Select the WAN interface media type:

    • Cable
    • DSL
    • Ethernet
    • LTE
    • T1
    • T3
    Service Provider Enter the name of the service provider.
    Interchassis Link

    Select the type of interchassis link:

    • Active-active
    • Active-standby
    • None

    Path MTU Aging Time

    (For Releases 21.2.1 and later.) Enter the path MTU aging time, in seconds, after which the process expires. A new probe is initiated within this interval to keep the record fresh.

    Range: 300 through 4294967295 seconds

    Default: None

    Circuit Tags Enter circuit tags, if desired.
    IPv4 (Tab)
    • Circuit Name
    Enter the name of the circuit.
    • Public IP Address
    Enter the public IP address for the WAN interface.
    NAT Traversal Interval Enter the NAT traversal interval
    IPv6 (Tab)  
    • Circuit Name
    Enter the name of the circuit.
  6. Click OK.

Configure a Provider or Customer Tenant Site

  1. In Director view:
    1. Select the Configuration tab in the top menu bar.
    2. Select Devices > Devices in the horizontal menu bar.
    3. Select a provider organization in left navigation bar to configure a provider tenant site, or select a tenant organization to configure a customer tenant site.
    4. Select a Controller node in the main pane. The view changes to Appliance view.
  2. Select the Configuration tab in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Services > SD-WAN > System > Site Configuration in the left menu bar.
  4. Click the edit-icon.png Edit icon, and in the Edit Site Configuration popup window, enter information for the following fields.

    Field Description
    Site Name (Required) Enter a name for the site. The name can be up to 32 characters.
    Global Tenant ID (Required)

    Enter the identifier of the global tenant that connects the Controller node to a tenant.

    Range: 1 through 511

    Management Routing Instance Select the Controller node's management routing instance.
    Provider Organization Select the provider organization to associate with the site.
    End-to-End SLAM Policy Select the end-to-end data-driven SLA monitoring path policy to apply to the site.
    Group Membership For a hub, click the add-icon.png Add icon and enter the name of the group that the hub is a member of.
    VNF Manager Click the add-icon.png Add icon and enter the IP address of a VNF manager.
  5. In the WAN Interfaces field, click the add-icon.png Add icon to add a WAN interface. In the Add WAN Interfaces popup window, enter information for the following fields.

    Field Description
    Interfaces Select the WAN interface.
    Encryption

    Select when to use encryption on the WAN interface:

    • Always
    • Never
    • Optional
    Shaping Rate (Group of Fields)
    • Rate (kbps)

    Click to enter the shaping rate in kbps, and then enter information for the following fields:

    • Input Rate—Enter the input rate, in kbps.
    • Minimum Input—Enter the minimum rate, in kbps.
    • Rate (%)

    Click to enter the shaping rate as a percentage of the interface bandwidth, and then enter information for the following fields:

    • Input Rate—Enter the input rate, as a percentage.
    • Minimum Input—Enter the minimum rate, as a percentage.
    Management Traffic  
    • Priority

    Enter a priority value for each of the WAN links used for management traffic. A lower value signifies a higher priority to use that link.

    Range: 0 through 15
    Default: 0 (use all available links)

    SLA Monitoring Policy
    • SLA Monitoring
    Select the end-to-end data-driven SLA monitoring path policy to use for SLA monitoring.
    Bandwidth Monitoring Policy  
    • Bandwidth Monitoring
    Select the end-to-end data-driven SLA monitoring path policy to use for bandwidth monitoring.
  6. Click OK twice.

Supported Software Information

Releases 20.2 and later support all content described in this article, except:

  • For Releases 21.2.1 and later, you can configure a path MTU aging timer on WAN interfaces for a systemwide site.
