Upgrade VOS Software from Concerto

This article describes how to upgrade the Versa Operating SystemTM (VOSTM) software on VOS branch devices from Concerto.

Note that before you can upload software using Concerto, the VOS software image must be present on the Versa Director node.

Download VOS Software Image to Concerto Node 

Before you can upgrade the VOS software on a Concerto node and on VOS devices, you download the VOS software image file to the Concerto node.

To download the VOS software image file from the Concerto software image repository:

  1. From the main Tenants screen, select the Inventory lifecycle in the left navigation panel.
  2. Select Software Packages > Software tab, and then click add-icon.png Add Software Package.

  3. In the Add Software Package popup window, enter information for the following fields.

    Field Description
    Package Name (Required) Enter the name of the software package.
    Package Location: Enter URL Click, and then enter the URL from which to download the software package.
    Package Location: Upload File (Group of Fields)  
    • Select Package File (Required)
    Click Browse, and then select the software package file.
    • Select Signature File
    Click Browse, and then select the signature file.
    Description Enter a text description for the software package.
  4. Click Add.

Upgrade a Software Image on a VOS Device  Edit section

You can upgrade the software image on a VOS device from the Inventory > Software Images option as described in this section.

To upgrade a software image on a VOS device:

  1. From the main Tenants screen, select the Inventory lifecycle in the left navigation panel.
  2. Select Appliance Inventory tab, and then select Upgrade Package > Software Package.

  3. In the Upgrade Software on Appliance popup window, enter information for the following fields.

    Field Description
    Package Version (Required) Select the software package version from the list of downloaded software packages.
    OS Type (Required)

    Select the OS type running on the Director node:

    • Bionic (Ubuntu 18.04)
    • Trusty (Ubuntu 14.04)
    CPU Type (Required)

    Select the CPU type:

    • SNB
    • WSM
    Package Name (Required) Select the software package name.
    Upload Only

    To upload the software image package only but not upgrade the software, select this option.

    Schedule Upgrade

    Click to schedule a time at which to upgrade the software. A scheduled upgrade upgrades the software and automatically installs it on the VOS device at the scheduled time. To view information about the upgrade and the device update, click the Tasks icon in the horizontal menu bar.  To view, edit, or cancel a scheduled task, see Manage a Scheduled Task.

    Select Upgrade Start Day & Time Select the date and time at which to begin upgrading the software.
    Scheduled Job Name (Required) (For Releases 12.2.1 and later.) Enter a name for the scheduled job.
    Appliance Inventory Displays the device or devices that you selected to upgrade.
  4. Click Upgrade.

Manage a Scheduled Task

For Releases 12.2.1 and later.

On a Concerto node, you can schedule software upgrade tasks to occur automatically. You can view, edit, or cancel a scheduled task at any time. When you edit the task, the changes apply to all the VOS devices in the list of tasks that are in the queue.

To view, edit, or cancel a scheduled task:

  1. From the main Tenants screen, select the Inventory lifecycle in the left navigation panel.
  2. Select the Scheduled Jobs tab. The screen displays the scheduled jobs, including job type and status.

  3. To cancel a scheduled job, select the checkbox next to the scheduled job name column, and then click Cancel.

  4. To edit a scheduled job, click the scheduled job name. In the Edit Job window, edit information for the following fields.

    • Job State—Select Cancel to delete the scheduled task.
    • Scheduled Date and Time—Click to reschedule the task by selecting date and time.
  5. Click Save.

Upgrade a Software Image on a VOS Device (Releases 11.4 and Earlier)  

  1. Select the Inventory lifecycle from the left navigation panel.
  2. Hover over the row for the tenant to be upgraded, and click the vertical-dots.png Ellipsis icon to select an option.

  3. Click Upgrade Software. The Upgrade Software popup window displays.

  4. In the Software Version field, select a software package. To upload the package to the device without performing an upgrade, click the Upload Only slide bar so that the slider bar is blue.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Hover over the tenant row, and then click View to display progress messages in the View Inventory screen.

Supported Software Information

Releases 12.1.1 and later support all content described in this article, except:

  • Release 12.2.1 adds support for the Scheduled Jobs tab to view, edit, or cancel a scheduled task.
