Configure Bandwidth Limits for Multitenant WAN Interfaces in Concerto

Versa-logo-release-icon.pngFor supported software information, click here.

Multiple subtenants belonging to a provider tenant can share the same WAN interface. For each subtenant, you can assign bandwidth limits. If you do not specify bandwidth limits, the system allocates an amount of the available bandwidth to each subtenant.

You can configure a single bandwidth limit per subtenant. You can configure the shaping rate for uplink (outgoing) traffic, and you can specify the maximum amount of bandwidth allocated for downlink (incoming) traffic for a tenant.

Note that if you configure bandwidth limits for subtenants, you must configure the QoS traffic-shaping rate on the QoS tab. You cannot allocate bandwidth to a subtenant that is greater than the configured QoS traffic-shaping rate. For more information, see Configure QoS Interface Schedulers.

Configure Bandwidth Limits for Multitenants on a WAN Interface

  1. In Tenant view, go to Configure > Network Interfaces.

The Interfaces screen displays with the WAN tab selected by default, along with any configured WAN interfaces.

  2. Click a WAN interface. The Edit WAN Interface screen displays with step 6, Review & Submit, selected by default.

  3. Select step 4, Tenants, then select one of the following options:
    • All Tenants (Default)—Have all the subtenants use the WAN interface with no bandwidth limits set.

    • Specify Tenants and Bandwidth Limits—Specify which tenants can use the WAN interface. The screen displays the parent tenant and all subtenants.

  4. Select the tenants that can use the WAN interface. To select all the tenants, click the checkbox next to Tenants. If you select two or more subtenants, you must also select the provider tenant (the appliance-owner tenant). The provider tenant is listed first in the list. In the screen shot below, VERSA is the provider tenant.

  5. By default, the system automatically allocates bandwidth to the subtenants. To control the amount of bandwidth allocated to each subtenant, click the Specify Bandwidth Limits slider, and then enter either the Uplink Shaping Rate, the Downlink Bandwidth, or both, in kilobits per second (kbps). If you select a provider tenant because you have selected more than one subtenant, you cannot specify a bandwidth limit for the provider tenant.

If you configure bandwidth limits for subtenants, you must configure the QoS traffic-shaping rate. You cannot allocate bandwidth to a subtenant that is greater than the configured QoS traffic-shaping rate for the interface. For more information see the Configure the Quality of Service Scheduler section in Configure WAN Interfaces in Concerto.

  6. For the selected tenants, enter the uplink shaping rate in kbps, the downlink bandwidth in kbps, then select an egress scheduler and an ingress scheduler from the drop-down lists.
  7. To share any excess bandwidth among the subtenants, click the Share Excess Bandwidth slider to enable the option.

  8. Click OK.

Monitor WAN Interfaces

  1. In Tenant view, select View > Secure SD-WAN > Overview.

    The following screen displays.

  2. Select an appliance from the drop-down list. The following screen displays.

  3. Select Interfaces > Physical and Logical Interfaces, and then select a WAN interface, such as WAN vni-0/0-0, as shown in the screenshot above. The screen displays the speeds and thresholds and the bandwidth measurement data for the WAN interface.
